I am a licensed Psychologist who specializes in working with women and health. I have almost 30 years of experience and have helped countless people make real change in their lives to live happier, more fulfilling lives.
I received my Ph.D. from Ball State University's Counseling Psychology program. This program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. I did my doctoral internship at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, where my focus was on family systems, individual psychotherapy, and medical family therapy.
My focus when working with people is on the present, rather than on the past. I help people understand what is blocking them from reaching their goals, help them learn how to make better decisions, set priorities, and make and implement an action plan to achieve their goals. I am honest and straightforward with feedback. The focus is on real change, with a very compassionate ear to help me understand why things have been difficult for you.
I specialize in working with women on a wide variety of issues. I have a special interest in working with women with cancer at all stages, but I also work with women struggling with any medical challenge. I can provide support and guidance to help with medical decision making and navigating through the confusing world of serious illness. My work in health psychology also includes working with family members who are serving as caregivers for an ill loved one.
I also work with women who are struggling with overwhelming stress, having trouble saying "no," life transitions, career issues, relationship problems, empty-nest syndrome, mid-life issues, and difficulty with decision making.
One other area of specialization is grief and bereavement. I help those who have experienced a loss to understand confusing emotions, deal with those around them who don't fully understand, and help people through the process of normal or complicated grief. I have worked with many women who have lost a child through miscarriage, infant death, accident and illness at any age.
